Sophia Daniels, ACSW, Psychotherapist

Sophia Daniels, ACSWSophia Daniels, ACSW, is an Associate Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist specializing in substance use disorders, trauma, and complex co-occurring mental health conditions.

She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed her graduate education in clinical social work at the University of Southern California.

Sophia’s professional experience spans dual-diagnosis residential treatment, behavioral health programs, and SUD outpatient settings, giving her a comprehensive understanding of recovery across the continuum of care.

She has worked with clients across a wide range of backgrounds and clinical presentations, including LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals, personality pathologies, as well as clients experiencing behavioral addictions and chemsex-related concerns, attending to the intersections among substance use, sexuality, identity, and trauma.

Sophia’s approach is trauma-informed, relational, psychodynamic, and responsive to each client’s individual needs, strengths, and stage of recovery. She integrates insight-oriented, experiential, behavioral, and skills-based interventions, drawing from attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based psychotherapy, somatic regulation, and relapse-prevention practices.

Rather than treating substance use in isolation, Sophia works collaboratively with clients to understand how trauma, relationships, identity, emotional pain, and long-standing patterns may shape the role substances play in their lives.

Known for balancing warmth and compassion with directness and thoughtful clinical challenge, Sophia helps clients develop insight, emotional stability, and practical tools for lasting change.

With 12 years of sustained recovery herself, she brings an authentic understanding of the recovery process alongside her clinical training and professional experience.

Her work is grounded in the belief that recovery is not simply abstinence, but the development of greater connection, agency, purpose, and a meaningful life.
