The letters after a clinician's name tell you their training and who licenses them.
- MD
- Medical Doctor. A physician licensed by the Medical Board of California. Board certification is an added credential in a specialty such as addiction medicine.
- PsyD / PhD
- Doctoral degrees in psychology. A Licensed Psychologist holds a doctorate and a license from the California Board of Psychology.
- LMFT
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. A master's-level psychotherapist licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
- LPCC
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. A master's-level psychotherapist licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
